641081 Japico - Gifu shoji, handmade Japanese paper with a high percentage of Kozu fibres, in sheets, Ideal to use for relief printing, intaglio and planographic printing as well as for drawings with graphite pencil, charcoal, red chalk, pastels. Also very suitable for restorations and bookbinding (endpapers and overlays) ATTENTION: Change of manufacturer at the end of 2025. This (new) Gifu shoji is now slightly darker/more brownish again. If a “lighter” paper is required, we recommend switching to Hokusai (635 815). If the feel (and appearance of handmade paper) is the main priority, Misumi, Natur (642 141) could be an alternative.

ATTENTION:

The current batch "001070" (unfortunately) contains brown dots and black dots/lines in the paper. We do not know the cause of the brown dots. The cause for the black dots/lines is the bark of the carbon fibre, which was obviously not sorted out properly enough and then also shredded.

If an absolutely "clean" paper is required, we recommend switching to Hokusai (635 815). If the feel (and appearance) of a handmade paper is paramount, Misumi, Nature (642 141) might be an alternative.
